Eliica - The Electric Car

It is one of the most elegant concept cars I've seen. Designed by a team at Keio University in Tokyo, led by Professor Hiroshi Shimizu, the car appeared a few years ago and caught everyone's attention. Powered by a Lithium-Ion battery, Eliica is not only one of the most interesting prototypes in the world, but also the fastest electric Sedan.

The body of the four door car has a futuristic, bullet shape design which was tested in a wind tunnel. The front doors open forward and the rear doors open upward like wings. The car's platform contains 4 tracks of 80 batteries, which make for one third of the vehicle's cost. They currently require about 10 hours of recharging from empty to full charge, and can be easily charged off of a residential power grid. (Wikipedia)

"We are talking about something like watches — a machine combining motors and batteries. As its price can fall quickly in the future, we think it's important to establish a superb brand image first," Hiroichi Yoshida told AFP. Maybe one day we will afford one ;)

  1. totally different!!!

  2. I love the concept and our world needs this, but I think they need to focus on at least 2 models, a commuter 2 passenger model with less recharge time anda family model which is what I see in the pictures. I think we need to target commuters first which is where the majority of our pollution comes from.

  3. dam an electric car thats fast!! thats one thing you don’t see every day. hope i can see one up close one day. would sure love to drive one day, and i would specialy love to race this electric vs a regular gas car.
