  3. Virgilio, are you illiterate? Only one of these is in America. It may be the biggest but the others are just as beautiful, if not more so.

  4. Still, okay pictures.

  5. You might want to do a little more research.

I went scuba diving in the aquarium at Epcot (Disneyworld, Florida, USA) last week. They claim their tank is 5.8 million gallons; considerably larger then the “World’s Second Largest Aquarium” you listed in Okinawa.

  6. Although Wikipedia says Churaumi is the second…

    you might be right Bud:

“The Living Seas at Epcot contains the world’s sixth-largest ocean and the biggest facility ever dedicated to man’s relationship with the underwater world.

The Living Seas was designed with the guidance of an advisory board of outstanding experts in oceanography and related fields. Its centerpiece is the world’s largest saltwater aquarium tank containing all manner of undersea creatures. The main coral reef environment is 203 feet in diameter and 27 feet deep, holding 5.6 million gallons of sea water plus another million gallons in its backup system. “

  7. thank god that america showed those other places how to build a proper aquarium.

  8. “World’s Largest Aquarium – Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, also the largest aquarium in North America…”

Ehm, yes? Of course it has to be the largest aquarium in North America if it is the largest aquarium in the world. It goes without saying. Nice post btw.

  28. I’ve been to both the Georgia and Genoa aquariums. Also dove in the Living seas at Epcot Center. All magnificent. However, the Monterey Bay Aquarium remains my favorite. It is located right next to the Monterey Bay in CA, and uses the Bay’s waters in its tanks. I talked to the Georgia Aquarium tour guide and she confirmed that even though Georgia’s is the biggest, the Monterey Bay has more species. A definite must for aquarium enthusiasts.

  30. Ana – “Encarcerating” animals allows us to gain a better understanding of animals, their ecosystems and helps us educate ourselves on how we are doing harm to their ocean and lake homes. The research gathered in aquariums world-wide is vital to the longevity of thousands of sea species.

  31. All of these pictures were a tremendous display oh how the world is full of wonders, it is a place to be cherished. It indicates how human beings no matter what race are all capable of achieving and creating spectacular feats.it is inspirational.

  32. That is truly an amazing place to go and visit, even I would go if I was given the chance and I normally cant stand such places….

  35. Disgusting. Many of these creatures need hundreds times more space than they can have in the largest aquarium ever built. Whale sharks cross oceans several times a year. These fishtanks (what eles are they?) are lit up with the same amount of light many more hours per day than in real life and they have no seasons. Fishes are animals and they have instincts. They cannot live a decent life in tanks. Would you enjoy living in prison, how ever large and “nice looking” it may be … for the mere pleasure of a couple of aliens ? Zoos and aquariums must be shut down. Period.

  36. i agree with jorge
“well im american and all the other americans on this page saying how we are better is pretty ignorant and explains why almost every other country hates us….”
but anyway Kang – i think you are being a little overdramatic.

  37. I believe that it is a good thing that we do have aquariums these sizes. Gives people a diffrent outlook on the creatures in the world. Makes you want to help out and clean up our earth. Lots of these animals were abandoned by thier mothers and needed humans to help them out. Or they were in danger of something. I just wish that I could hit the power ball or something. I really love the aquarium. I would love is the New Jersey aquarium would expand. If I hit the power ball. LOL! I am going to donate a lot of money to bring more attractions to the New Jersey Adventure Aquarium.

  38. wow…..this is real pleasure it gives me pleasure to look at this things and i hope to see this places sometime soon. I love it all. Nice job.

  39. I’m so sorry, but the largest aquarium in Europe is in Valencia (Spain): L’Oceanografic.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%27Oceanogr%C3%A0fic

  40. I’ve been to the Atlanta aquarium and it doesn’t really seem that big, I was surprised when I found out it was the largest. But it was cool, they have a glass tunnel that goes under one of the tanks and you can watch the whale-sharks and other fish swim around. There’s also a little petting tank were you can touch the fish and rays.

  41. Ermm sorry to tell you but the Dubain Aquarium is the world’s largest now

  42. I love this site..

  43. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QH_w9N8qFLc here is a gigantic aquarium if yall want a video 11 minutes of a giant beatiful aquarium its not a home aquarium.

  44. Ammazing…………i am back on this site again after 5 years. I will make a to do list for when i visit all this aquariums and many more.
